The steamship agency was founded in 1854 by Capt. William
Leavitt. Now under the management of the 5th generation of the
Leavitt Family, the tradition of having experienced Mariners at the helm of
the Agency continues. All of our boarding agents are holders of USCG Masters
licenses, have sea going experience, in depth knowledge of current national
and international regulations and can provide you with detailed and accurate
information on the ports we cover. You can be assured that your vessel is
being attended to by a professional when Chase, Leavitt & Co. is onboard!

experience of our agents, we truly "cover" the waterfront and
attend as agents on Tankers, bulk carriers, specialized neo-bulk carriers and
on cruise ships. This broad exposure and the years of interfacing with port
& government officials and port service suppliers means that you vessels
every need will be attended to in the shortest turnaround time possible. Our Agents are home based in the Portland area but are fully
knowledgeable of the conditions of our covered outports i.e. Portsmouth, NH,
Searsport-Bucksport, ME and Bar Harbor, ME. Our services are available 365
days a year and 24 hours. Whether your vessels are bound for or already in
one of our ports, you will have unfettered access to information on your
vessel at ALL TIMES! Our staff participates fully in the various private and public
forums that work to regulate vessel traffic and operations and they work hard
